Design Statement:
The City of Bellingham Public Works Department project consisted of remodeling approximately 12,000 square feet of the basement at the recently remodeled Municipal Court Building. The remodel/rehabilitation project completed the conversion of an existing church into a new courtroom and office facility. This project converted the basement into offices housing the Information Technology Services Department.

The project involved the demolition of a two-story apartment structure to accommodate a new exterior on-grade entrance that allows natural daylight to penetrate the basement level. The new facility remodel includes complete ADA accessibility and the following spaces: reception/waiting area, offices, conference room, training room, restrooms, break room, and a large meeting room for city-wide use.

The project is an example of RBA Design's commitment to establish a strong working relationship with our clients. Karl Kirchgasler was the principal in charge for the original courtroom remodel. His successful working relationship with the Client, and his intricate knowledge of public works projects, combined with RBA Design's knowledge of office interiors played a key role in the success of the project.
